Javier Subatin Shares Social Distancing Strategies

Advice and tidbits on how to keep your music and your brand on track.

Today’s inspiration comes from Lisbon-based guitarist Javier Subatin who has just come out with the self-released “Variaciones.”

How are you getting gigs, whether performing or teaching?

In order to get gigs… I’m looking for festivals starting in January and after. Regarding the lessons, for several years I’ve been using a platform called SuperProf that works well.

How are you keeping your brand alive?

I was thinking about ways to dedicate my energy in Instagram, but it wasn’t enough compared to playing live music. So, after watching several musicians passing through difficult times, I thought that it was a good time to invest in a broader project that also includes producing content I can share on Instagram and I’ll be playing live supported by an organization. I’m open to the possibility of playing with other musicians (collaborative recordings) during this isolation period. One result so far was the launching of a community of musicians called Composers and Improvisers Community Project (www.patreon.com/cicommunityproject).
